Day 1
Arrive Los Angeles

Upon arrival in Los Angeles, pick up your car and proceed to the hotel. If cultural pursuits is more your style, visit Getty Villa, the original Getty Museum featuring Greek and Roman antiquities and a gourmet café that’s perfect for lunch. Visiting Beverly Hills is a must if you’d like to tour celebrity homes or shop like a star on Rodeo Drive in the afternoon. If you prefer more low-key shopping, explore Venice Beach and the variety of unique boutiques selling jewelry, clothing, furniture and art created by local designers. Visitors hoping to be dazzled by real stars can visit Griffith Observatory, or drive over to Long Beach and visit the Queen Mary, a star in her own right. Finish the evening in Hollywood or West Hollywood, areas bursting with new restaurants, cool clubs and bars.
Overnight to Los Angeles.


Day 2
Los Angeles

It’s an exciting day today when you can become a part of Hollywood magic as you visit Universal Studios, the work place of Hollywood’s biggest and most glamorous stars. This is where the greatest moments from movies and television come to life, like the realityshattering all-new Terminator 2 3D show, starring the cast of Terminator 2. Plus, have your worst nightmare come true when a man-eating T-Rex attacks you on Jurassic Park – The Ride. You will speed through time  on Back to the Future, The Ride andgo Totally Nickelodeon in the place where kids rule. It’s all waiting for you at Universal Studios, Hollywood.

Day 3
Los Angeles – (1.5 hrs) – Oxnard – (25 mins) – Ventura – (1 hr) – Santa Barbara – (30 mins) – Santa Ynex Valley Wine Region

Once leaving L.A.’s orbit, travellers  heading north into Ventura County can wander into Point Mugu State Park, located in the Santa Monica Mountains. Stop off at one of many charming produce stands in Oxnard, the “Strawberry Capital” of California, followed by lunch in Ventura, home of the Channel Islands National Park Visitors Center. Stroll past fabulous galleries and boutiques. Santa Barbara, the American Riviera,beckons with its charming Old World Mediterranean architecture, cloistered mission, airy art museum and posh shops. Spend the afternoon shopping for the latest fashions on State Street or the stunning outdoor Paso Nuevo. Or pursue your favourite wines in the Santa Ynez Valley, a leading wine region in the state. Drive over to Beullton for dinner at theHitching Post, made famous in the film ‘Sideways’.

Day 4
Santa Barbara – (1 hr) – Solvang – (1 hr) – Pismo Beach

If you can keep your hunger at bay, drive inland to the Danish-inspired city of Solvang for breakfast. You will want to arrive on an empty stomach so you can take advantage of mouthwatering traditional bakeries featuring Danish pastries, breads and foods. Walk off the calories by visiting some of the more than 200 European style shops, antique stores, and museums. Drive about an hour northwest to Pismo Beach, where you can stretch your legs and enjoy amazing coastal views at the oceanfront pier and the wide, sandy beach, or plan your afternoon at the California Welcome Center. Enjoy lunch in this classic beach town, and peruse the quaint shops downtown. If you’re feeling adventurous, rent an ATV and race across the sand – the only place in the state where you can drive on the beach. Or let someone else do the driving and get on a Humvee tour.

Day 5
Pismo Beach – (30 mins) – San Luis Obispo

Depart for San Luis Obispo, a vibrant college town where you can visit the historic mission and browse through one-of-a-kind shops and public art along the meandering river. Enjoy lunch at the Big Sky Café. Then get ready to see one of the most amazing sights in California – the world-famous Hearst Castle. Just a few kilometres north in beautiful San Simeon, the castle was once the palatial estate of newspaper magnate William Randolph Hearst and is now a state historical monument offering stunning art collections, lush gardens, magnificent pools and sweeping ocean vistas.

Day 6
San Luis Obispo – (2.5 hrs) – Carmel By the Sea/Monterey

On the way to Monterey, many wonders await. Take some time to explore the Paso Robles wine region, then head north and navigate the thrilling hairpin turns of the Pacific Coast Highway in Big Sur, passing cliffside waterfalls, lookout peaks, hidden hot springs. Take time to cruise and take pictures of the 17-Mile Drive from Pacific Grove through Pebble Beach, then tour Mission Carmel at the mouth of the Carmel Valley or linger inside art galleries and boutiques downtown. Finally, drive the last few miles to Monterey’s historic waterfront district, Cannery Row, which was once the heart of a thriving sardine-packingindustry, a time immortalised in John Steinbeck’s novel. There you can shop or discover life in Monterey’s bay without leaving dry land at the Monterey Bay Aquarium. Watch seals try to steal a meal at Fisherman’s Wharf while you sip local wines and savour fresh seafood for dinner.

Day 7
Monterey – (1 hr) – Santa Cruz

Drive about an hour north to Santa Cruz, a funky surf town where you can watch surfers ride the waves from the bluffs of Steamer Lane. A mustsee is Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk, an oceanfront amusement park where you can ride the Giant Dipper, a 1920s wooden rollercoaster. After lunch at the park, visit some wineries in the scenic Santa Cruz Mountains, followed by shopping and dinner in the charming town of Los Gatos. If you are looking for a change of pace, drive to San Jose to visit the Tech Museum of Innovation or the Winchester Mystery House, the spooky mansion of the late heiress Sarah Winchester, followed by shopping and dinner.

Day 8
Santa Cruz – (1.5 hrs) – Half Moon
Bay/San Francisco

In the morning, drive about an hour and a half north to Half Moon Bay, featuring great seaside restaurants, where you can enjoy an early lunch while you watch surfers riding the waves. Several miles north of Half Moon Bay is the famous surf area, Mavericks, where pro surfers challenge waves over 50 feet. In the early afternoon, drive to Fisherman’s Wharf in San Francisco, where you can spend the afternoon. Stroll the many shops, galleries and museums along the wharf or nearby Ghiradelli Square. Enjoy a ferry ride to the infamous Alcatraz Island, the former penitentiary to some of the most notorious federal criminals of the 20th century. Or if you prefer a different kind of thrill, drive 45 minutes east to Vallejo, home to Six Flags Discovery Kingdom theme park.

Day 9
San Francisco – (1 hr) – Napa Valley

Enjoy a drive to Napa Valley today. It is one of the premier travel destinations in the world. Breathtaking views abound at every turn – mustard in the late winter, picturesque rolling hills planted with vineyards yearround and wineries of every stature dot the landscape. Whether you are wine tasting, dining at renowned restaurants like the French Laundry, pampering yourself with a mud bath in Calistoga, or just enjoying a drive, Napa Valley is your spot of heaven on earth.

Day 10
Depart San Francisco

Today drop off your car at the airport for flight back home. (B)
